Bridging the Digital Divide: Help Families with Free Internet Through the SSBI!

The School Student Broadband Initiative (SSBI) recently hit a major milestone.

As of 1 August 2024, over 15,000 Australian families have been connected to free internet, providing a much-needed boost in these times of rising living costs.

Here's why the SSBI is a game-changer for schools and families:

  • Narrows the Digital Divide: This program connects families who wouldn't otherwise have internet access at home. This means students can access online learning resources, complete homework assignments, and stay connected with their education.

  • Reduces Cost of Living Pressure: With free internet until the end of 2025, families save thousands of dollars, offering significant financial relief.

  • Benefits All Students: The SSBI is particularly helpful for single parents, families experiencing domestic violence, and students in rural and regional areas.

How Can Your School Help?

Schools play a crucial role in ensuring every student has the resources they need to succeed. By promoting the SSBI, you can directly connect families with this valuable program. Here's what you can do:

  • Share the SSBI Brochure: Download the brochure with all the information families need to apply. Distribute it through school newsletters, websites, or parent-teacher conferences.

  • Spread the Word: Encourage teachers to mention the SSBI during class announcements or parent-teacher meetings.

  • Direct Families to the National Referral Centre: Families can apply by calling 1800 954 610 or visiting www.anglicarevic.org.au/student-internet.

Together, let's work to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive in an increasingly online world!
